How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Magician in Portland?

It's one of the first questions people ask when they start planning an event. You have a budget, you want to know if hiring a magician is realistic, and you don't want to waste anyone's time.

Let's just answer it directly.

What you can expect to pay for a Portland magician

I can’t address what other magicians might charge. I can only share my prices. Magician pricing varies depending on the type of event, how long the performance runs, and what kind of magic is involved. Here's a straightforward breakdown of what I charge for the three types of events I work most often:

Private parties and house parties — starting at $750

This covers a 90-minute experience that includes close-up strolling magic mixed in with your guests, plus a short stand-up show. It's designed to work as the entertainment centerpiece of your gathering. It’s something that brings everyone together and gives the evening a memorable highlight.

Wedding receptions — $750 to $1,000

Wedding packages cover approximately two hours of cocktail hour entertainment, with close-up magic performed for your guests as they mingle. Every wedding couple also receives something personal, a keepsake customized specifically to them and their wedding day. Pricing within this range depends on the specifics of your event.

Corporate events — $1,000 to $2,500

Corporate pricing reflects the range of options available. Close-up strolling magic only, a stand-up show only, or a combination of both. Events typically run two to three hours. The flexibility in pricing allows me to work with different event formats, group sizes, and goals.

What you're actually paying for

Numbers on their own don't tell the whole story. Here's what's included regardless of which package fits your event:

A performer who is professional, easy to work with, and handles everything from first contact to final bow. Magic that happens up close and in your guests' hands.

For corporate clients, there's also the option to go a step further with fully custom magic. That might mean an illusion built around your company's product, your brand message, or a specific theme you want to reinforce with your audience. For private events, I can create something tailored to a specific individual. In either case, we work together to develop something that feels completely unique to you.

Is it worth it?

That's ultimately a question only you can answer, but here's a useful way to think about it. Divide the cost by the number of guests at your event. For a corporate event of 100 people at $1,500, you're spending $15 per person for two to three hours of entertainment that touches every single person in the room individually. For a house party of 20 people at $750, that's $37.50 per person for 90 minutes of an experience most of them have never had before.

Compare that to what you're already spending on food, drinks, and venue — and ask yourself what's most likely to be remembered a month from now.

How to get an exact quote

Every event is a little different, and I'm happy to give you a specific number based on your date, location, and what you're envisioning. Reach out with a few details and I'll get back to you quickly.

There's no obligation and no pressure, just a straightforward conversation about whether it's a good fit.
